Dimpled Amoeba Vessel
Dimpled Amoeba Vessel
I’ve always had a thing for single celled organisms, especially Amoeba’s. They have the ability to alter their shape by extending and retracting pseudopods - kind of like little, lumpy feet.
The vessel is made of polymer. The basic armature was formed and cured. Then, holes for the “dimples” were carved out, and more polymer was used to create the dipped in dimples. After all this was cured again, and sanded, I laminated with my translucent cane work. After the final cure, the vessel was sanded to an inch of its life, so that when you hold it, it feels very sensual and soft.
Measurements: 6” high x 5” wide
Note: This vessel is just for display, and while a sprig of dried flower might be fun to display in it’s little opening, please do not put water in it. Polymer is porous, and water could damage the vessel. Consider this a hollow sculpture, with a hole.
This is part of my older work, and was returned to me from a gallery in exchange for newer work. Thus, the price I can offer you is way lower than what it might have cost in any gallery.
